Grounded in the Orton-Gillingham Approach and research-based best practices, instruction at NVS is geared toward skill building, critical thinking, and original thought.

Students are taught “where they are” in a multimodal way that enables them to be involved— they “learn by doing”—in small classes and groups. Trained teachers know how to work with each child in terms of tailoring instruction, assignments, and collaboration. NVS partners with University of Lynchburg, Randolph College, and Liberty University to train teachers in the field of special education.
