There are several ways that you can support New Vistas School and our mission. Below are just a few of the ways you can help.

The New Vistas Fund serves as the annual fund and is the primary funding source for items not fully covered by tuition. Annual fund dollars support operational expenses, including academic supplies, tuition assistance, professional development, building and grounds maintenance, special programs, including art, and technology and teacher salaries.

Your gift to The New Vistas Fund allows students with learning, attention, and emotional difficulties an opportunity to succeed in a smaller academic setting, while developing the confidence and social skills that are necessary for continued growth in the mainstream academic and work environments.

The 2023-2024 annual New Vistas Fund Campaign will run through June 30, 2024. A contribution to New Vistas School may be tax-deductible as allowed by law. Gifts can be made by cash, check, credit card, or in the form of shares of stock or mutual funds. Please call Sally James, Director of Advancement, at (434) 846-0301 for stock transfer instructions.

Tribute Gifts

Your gift may be designated in honor or in memory of someone special. A notification of your memorial/honor gift will be sent to the person(s) of your choice.

Matching Gifts

Your personal gift to the school may be maximized if your employer participates in a matching gift program.

Restricted Gifts

Your gift may be restricted to a designated area.

Donations of all kinds are welcome. Please check with the Sally James, Director of Advancement first on what specific needs New Vistas School is trying to fill or if you have something in particular in mind that you would like to donate to the school.

The Lucy Guggenheimer Ross Scholarship Fund

In 2001, the New Vistas School Board of Directors established an endowed scholarship fund, created by Rosel and Elliot Schewel to honor New Vistas director and founder, Lucy Guggenheimer Ross. The fund will provide a perpetual honor for Lucy and makes a New Vistas education financially accessible for more families. The scholarship fund, established with a gift of $300,000, is administered by The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation.

When considering a gift to New Vistas School, please note that your gift may qualify you to receive 65% of the gift amount in Virginia state tax credits. Individual donations must be a minimum of $500 and corporate donations must be a minimum of $616 (donations may be cash, merchandise, rent/lease facility, professional services, stock, real estate, other property, contracting services, etc). This opportunity is made possible through the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Education’s Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program for Education.
