Hello, I am Belle Evans and am currently teaching Math 5/6, Math 6/7 and Algebra I. This is my second year at New Vistas: however, I have been teaching for 20+ years. I received a BA in Psychology and a M.Ed. in Special Education from The University of Lynchburg.
When I began teaching last year part time I did not intend for it to be anymore than a long-term substitute position; however, I totally believe in the mission of NVS and am glad I was given the opportunity to return this year.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in my desire to foster academic success for every student, teaching them to value their individual achievements. No child learns the same, and my job as a teacher is to adapt my teaching style to meet their individual needs.
When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband Chad and I have two sons, Reese, who recently graduated from Virginia Tech, and Jimmy, a sophomore at JMU. We also have five dogs Hazel, Ramona, Rita, Rico, and Chico.
