Hello!  My name is Dr. Lisa DeJarnette. The students call me Dr. De!  This year, I am teaching Middle School Math and Social Emotional Learning, as well as one Upper School Math class, Algebra 1 Part 1.

In my math classes, students work with a variety of materials, to move from the concrete to the abstract. They also receive explicit strategy instruction and focus on using specific math language. Instruction in organization, notetaking, and study skill is embedded. We give our math brains a workout each day!

I recently moved back to the Lynchburg area after having lived and worked for a few years just outside of Washington, D. C. I am excited to be home, both in Lynchburg and at NVS, where I previously served for almost 20 years as a teacher and administrator.
