Within my family, I have been an active member of my daughter’s Girl Scout Troop, my son’s Cub Scout Troop, and a volunteer/chaperone for a local high school band program. While I was a volunteer coaching soccer for the YMCA, I decided that I wanted to work with youth as a teacher, coach, and/or instructor. I have thoroughly enjoyed my early volunteer and teaching experiences, and that has enhanced since I started working for New Vistas School.
This year I am proud to teach United States History, Government, Economics and Personal Finance, and World History. We explore these subjects through assignments, presentations, discussions, projects, videos, and assessments. We also research and prepare a variety of culinary dishes related to the specific geographical regions we are studying in class. I also head the Odyssey club where we explore a variety of local adventures and extracurricular activities.
I have an associate’s degree in management and culinary arts, as well as Technical Teaching license with the Virginia Department of Education. Currently, I am pursuing a Special Education Degree from Mary Baldwin University.
I am thrilled to be a part of the NVS community that recognizes that some people learn differently, so we teach differently. I look forward to serving this community.
